AP World History Summer Assignment
Ms. Adamson's Class
2024-2025
Hello and Welcome
Hello future AP World History student! I’m so glad that you will be in class with me during the 2024-2025 school year. I hope you are excited too. I’ve prepared a few assignments for you to complete this summer so that you are prepared for the rigor and pace of the AP World History curriculum.
I created a list of various ways you can study in AP World History. It would be helpful to check it out before class starts so you have an idea of how you can improve if you aren't happy with your initial quiz, test, or essay scores. Check it out HERE.
If you have any questions about the class or the summer assignment, feel free to email me at the link below!

Required Materials
You need a LARGE (1.5 inch) three ring binder with 10 labeled dividers for this class. Inside you must keep a “journal” of notes, homework, graphic organizers, and other daily assignments. The syllabus should be the first page in your notebook.
Please label your dividers:
Unit 1, Unit 2, Unit 3, Unit 4, Unit 5, Unit 6, Unit 7, Unit 8, Unit 9, Essays
There will be a notebook check the second week of classes. I will be looking for the correct sized notebook with properly labeled dividers. It should be an easy grade in the grade book!
Required Text Book
You are welcome to find used copies of this AMSCO book but make sure that the time frame is 1200-Present, otherwise it will not align with the assignments in the class.
You will need this text as soon as school starts, so order ASAP! You can also ask students I taught last year if they will give or sell you their copy. You are welcome to organize your own group orders to save on shipping.
Summer Assignments
Right now, you are a blank slate to me as a person and a student. I don't know a single thing about you. You could be a hard worker, someone who tends to procrastinate, or someone who knows they don't work to their full potential in class. Failure to complete summer assignments immediately gives your teachers a bad impression of your work ethic as a student. On the very first day I already have an impression of you as a student who is unwilling to complete the work necessary to be successful in an Advanced Placement class. Start with a positive impression by completing your summer assignments thoroughly and on time.
There are THREE summer assignments. All of these assignments will be turned in to me COMPLETE on the first day of class:
A-Day: Wednesday, August 7th
B-Day: Thursday, August 8th
Summer Assignment Resources
I'm sure your next question is: where can I find the information to complete the two graphic organizers? I have Google presentations made for all the empires and the belief systems are also included in those presentations. As you learn about the different empires, record what you learn about them and their belief systems on your handouts.
If you can't find any specific information you are welcome to search for it online! Just be aware of the time periods and don't include information past 1200 CE.
